English Language Instructor

At ASA, we're looking for dedicated and skilled individuals to teach English to Afghan students who are working hard to access international education. As an English Language Instructor, you'll teach TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo English Test preparation, or general English courses — remotely, to students who genuinely need it.
This is a great fit for educators, advanced English speakers, or students in education, linguistics, or English-related fields who are passionate about teaching and want their work to mean something beyond the classroom.
Requirements
- Must be currently enrolled in or have completed an undergraduate degree, preferably in English, Education, Linguistics, or a related field.
- Strong command of English — native or near-native proficiency. If English is not your first language, a strong test score (TOEFL 90+, IELTS 6.5+, or Duolingo 125+) helps demonstrate this.
- Some prior experience in teaching, tutoring, or language instruction is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with the structure and strategies of TOEFL, IELTS, or the Duolingo English Test.
- Ability to commit at least 8 to 10 hours per week, including teaching, student feedback, and team collaboration.
- Comfortable using Zoom, Google Docs, Discord, and other online teaching tools.
- Punctual, responsive, and professional in how you communicate with students and team members.

Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons tailored to the test or level you're teaching.
- Conduct group classes or one-on-one sessions remotely.
- Give students personalized feedback, learning strategies, and corrections on speaking and writing.
- Track student progress and adjust your teaching approach when something isn't working.
- Prepare and share materials, homework, and practice tests.
- Join instructor meetings, curriculum planning sessions, or training as needed.
- Show up as a mentor and motivator, especially for students who are facing real barriers to education.
